Redmi OS is not latest : Struck with Android Nougat: Redmi OS is based on 2 years old nougat in its smartphone. redmi has its own UI and latest in series is miui 9.5 released recently. Xiaomi has ignored completely Android Oreo and not s ingle handset came with this OS. however google is moving forward and can launch latest OS Android P any time.
